Sunday Stash Report: 3/22/15

image

I’m writing to you on a crisp but sunny morning here.  The birds definitely think it’s spring!  There are a few things to do in the yard, but the ground is very soft, and it’s early yet, so for now I think I’ll…sew!

This week I used another three and a half yards on the Baby Geese 3 quilt, and I didn’t add any fabric.  I see that changing soon.  I’m low on some things, and I just got another commission for an elephant baby quilt (the one with the puffy blue elephants!),  so I’ll need more gray and white fabrics.  Too bad.  😉

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 3.5 yards
This year:  + 26.5 yards,  – 52.75 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  26.25 yards

Good luck with your destashing!  I’m linking up to Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report: 3/15/15

IMG_2284The weather here is much improved, and I took pictures of this completed quilt this morning. There will be a post about it later.  It used three and a half yards, and I didn’t buy any.  That can’t last long.  I’m beginning to spot thin places in the stash.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 3.5 yards
This year:  + 26.5 yards,  – 49.25 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  22.75 yards

2015-03-14 10.12.21What I did buy was a new sewing chair!  I had put this off because I really liked the looks of my old one (an unusual pink/red color), but it really didn’t like my back.  Office Max has lots of it’s chairs on sale, and this is a mid-price one, rated for 6-8 hours at a time.  Sounds about right, hmmm?  I haven’t used it for that long yet, but after a few hours I’m very happy with it.  The height adjusts, and the (short) arms flip up.  It also is much heavier and has broader legs than my old one, so maybe it won’t flip out from under me when I reach for something!

Take care of yourselves, and keep using that stash!  I’m linking up to Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report: 3/8/15

This post is brought to you by Yuri, who says every quilter needs an attractive paper weight.  Actually, he had a strong belief last evening that it was time to feed the cats, and was hoping that if he sat on something important enough I would have to stop my work.  Or that he could stare me into submission.  I had already yelled him for trying to remove pins from my piecing.  I did make him wait till I finished my block.  So there.

No fabric bought, and I used 3 1/2 yards for the Geese baby quilt.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 3.5 yards
This year:  + 26.5 yards,  – 45.75 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  19.25 yards

Hope all of you are moving your stash in the right direction!  I’m linking up to Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash and February/March Goals

IMG_2274Stash

This week I bought no fabric, and used three and a half yards from stash to make this quilt.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 3.5 yards
This year:  + 26.5 yards,  – 42.25 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  15.75 yards

February Goals

1.  Design and make winter-themed art quilt.  No.  Again.  Sigh.  This just isn’t going to happen.  I made the firescreen cover as a warm-up, but I have no interest in this quilt now.

2.   Audit Jinny Beyer BOM Craftsy Class.  Yes!  Caught up on the instructions.  Tempted to hand piece a block.

3.  Complete Step Two on Charlotte’s Scrap in a Box Mystery Quilt.  Yes!  Don’t seem to have photos.

4.  Piece and quilt Disappearing Four Patch with floral fabrics.  Yes!  And made a baby quilt from the scraps.  Here.

March Goals

1. Audit Jinny Beyer BOM Craftsy Class.

2.  Complete Step Three on Charlotte’s Scrap in a Box Mystery Quilt.

3.  Continue studio organization.

4. Make mug rug for Sandi’s (Quilt Cabana) swap.

5.  Assemble scrappy log cabin blocks I made a few months ago.

Maybe it’s the winter weather, but I feel very uninspired.  Hope this changes quickly!

I didn’t have to look up the date today because it’s my son’s twenty-first birthday.  Wow!  I know he’s celebrating with friends at college, and we plan to see him next weekend.

Only completed the fireplace screen cover this week, and had to buy a half yard of home dec fabric for that.  I’ll take these numbers.

This week:  + .5 yards,  – 2.25 yards
This year:  + 26.5 yards,  – 38.75 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  12.25 yards

Keep warm and keep destashing!  I’m linking up to Patchwork Times.

Brrr!  Writing this wearing a wool sweater, with a quilt on my lap.  I know I’m not in the coldest or anywhere near the snowiest part of North America, but Spring will still be very welcome!

This week I completed these two quilts, and didn’t buy any fabric.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 13.75 yards
This year:  + 26 yards,  – 36.5 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  10.5 yards

Finally heading in the right direction!  Hope you are, too, but the year is still young.

Sunday Stash and Piggy Bank Update

image

Stash

Nothing in and nothing out this week.  I finished the D4P top and pieced the back, so I plan to sandwich and begin quilting it today.  Its all from stash so that will be a good thing when its finished.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 0 yards
This year:  + 26 yards,  – 22.75 yards
Net fabric destashed added in 2015:  3.25 yards

Challenge Update

Time to check in on the Second Annual Piggy Bank Challenge at Val’s Quilting Studio.

My bank pitcher is about half full, so I’m encouraged.  I know it looks like all dollar bills, but there are really a lot of coins hiding in there, too.  I’ve been emptying change and ones from my wallet whenever it gets too fat or at the end of the month.  So far, I still think I’ll spend it on a Craftsy class when we count it out in July.

I’m linking up to Patchwork Times, and leaving a comment at Val’s Quilting Studio.

Sunday Stash and Goals Report

No new fabric came in this week.  I was in a quilt shop, but it was to drop off donations, and they didn’t have the one fabric I needed, so I was very good.  I finished this Quilt of Valor, so that’s ten and a half yards out.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 10.5 yards
This year:  + 26 yards,  – 22.75 yards
Net fabric destashed added in 2015:  3.25 yards

Certainly headed in the right direction!

2015-01-14 17.57.37

I did pretty well on the January Goals, completing four of the six.  All the snow has been helpful, but when the weather was better we went out a lot, so I didn’t sew nearly every day.

January Goals

1.  Sew a Quilt of Valor from stash.  Yes!  This one.

2.  Order supplies for surface decoration on quilts.  Yes, I ordered paints and markers.

3.  Design and make a winter-themed art quilt.  Um, well, I’ve pulled some fabrics.

4.  Deliver quilts I’ve designated for donation.  Yes!

5.  Audit Jenny Beyer BOM Craftsy Class.  Not yet.

6. Complete Step One on Charlotte’s Scrap in a Box Mystery Quilt.  Yes!  Here.

February Goals

1.  Design and make winter-themed art quilt.

2.   Audit Jenny Beyer BOM Craftsy Class.

3.  Complete Step Two on Charlotte’s Scrap in a Box Mystery Quilt.

4.  Piece and quilt Disappearing Four Patch with floral fabrics.

5.  Make cover for fireplace screen.

Yesterday I pulled fabrics, cut, and did the preliminary piecing on the D4P quilt, so I have a good start on that.  Our snowstorm fizzled out here, but I’m still taking it as a Sew Day!

Hope you are making the progress you wish.  I’m linking up to Patchwork Times.

The bad news (sort of) is that a box of fabric arrived from Fabric Shack.  The good news is that the Kona Snow inside allowed me to finish this top, and there’s a beautiful (and sale!) backing, too.  So the numbers will change again quickly.

This week I finished two pillowcases, and a pair of arm protectors for the upholstered chair in my kitchen.

This week:  + 10.5 yards,  – 3 yards
This year:  + 26 yards,  -12.25 yards
Net fabric destashed added in 2015:  13.75 yards

Also added to my studio is this pretty bale jar from the antique mall.  From the pins, it sure looks like it has some sewing experience, doesn’t it?  I’m using it to hold fabric markers.

Hope you’re either destashing, or adding really good stuff!  I’m linking up to Patchwork Times.

Some sewing this week, but the only finish was this second elephant baby quilt.  See both of them here.  I tried to buy fabric, but no place close to me had what I needed, so I couldn’t.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 3 yards
This year:  +15.5 yards,  -9.25 yards
Net fabric destashed added in 2015:  6.25 yards

Not bad, but yes, I have ordered the solids and backings that I need. Just that time of year, I guess.

Hope you’re using your stash this week.  I’m linking up to Sunday Stash Report (or whatever Judy’s calling it this week!) at Patchwork Times.
