Sunday Stash Report: 4/19//15

2015-04-01 14.34.24

Nothing came in, and nothing was finished this week.  I sewed on Scrap-in-a-Box, and I rearranged blocks for the pink and black cabin quilt.  Here is photo of the mug rug I made two weeks ago for Sandi’s swap.  It’s been received in Texas, so I can show it now.  I used a free pattern from Craftsy, and scraps from stash.  It’s been a while since I’ve done anything like this, and it was fun.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 0 yards
This year:  + 42.5 yards,  – 64.25 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  21.75 yards

Hope you are using the stash.  I’m linking up to Patchwork Times.

Scrappy Cabins 1 is Finished

IMG_2326pm

Last week I got this project quilted and bound.  Yes, I see the, uh, design decision, near the lower left corner.  I mean, I see it now.  I partially blame all of you, who looked at the top here and never mentioned the problem.  (I’ve made sure to get lots of eyes on the pink and black one currently on my wall!)  I’m not too upset.  It gives it some character.  Not all furrows are straight, after all.

As the commenters said, I like the green and the pops of purple.  I used a shiny purple thread, Art Studio Colors by Superior, to quilt three wavy lines vertically and horizontally on each block.  I had already stitched in the ditch with Bottom Line, which is mostly invisible, but gives it sufficient quilting.

I made this for donation and to lighten my string bins, and I think it will be loved.

WIP Wednesday 4/15/15

image

It’s been a busy week with a lot of interruptions, but I have managed to get up to the studio a few times.  Yesterday I trimmed all the pink and black log cabin blocks, and arranged them in a Straight Furrows set.

image

This morning Kati suggested I try a Barn Raising set.  I know there are a few blocks here that need to be turned, but you get the idea.  It looks okay in the photo, but to the naked eye it’s just chaos.  Some of my dark fabrics aren’t very dark, and the blocks don’t have a lot of contrast.  It was a bear to try to arrange them up close.  Think they’re going back to the original arrangement.

And this afternoon I started on Clue 4 of Charlotte’s Scrap-in-a-Box Mystery Quilt.  Easy to put together, no pins, and I like my colors.

Hope you’re making good progress.  I’m linking up to

I used fabric without buying any more!  The scrappy log cabin quilt (pictures later) used seven and a half yards.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 7.5 yards
This year:  + 42.5 yards,  – 64.25 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  21.75 yards

Today looks like it will be spent in the garden.  Also, I still need to get my printer’s box/thread holder and clock back up on the wall after our last thunderstorm took it down.

Good luck on your destashing.  I’m linking up to Patchwork Times.

Cabins in Progress

image

The scrappy log cabin top is all put together, and I’ve made the backing, so it may get spray basted today.

image

While I was waiting to have a place to baste (I use an old ping pong table), I made 48 more blocks in pinks, grays, and blacks.

Also, I finished a mug rug to swap, but I haven’t sent it yet.

Hope you’re making all the progress you wish.  I’m linking up to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced.

Happy Easter!  Hope you’re enjoying your day.  We have sunshine here,  and a few daffodils blooming.

Yes, more fabric.  I’m going to make another beach quilt as soon as I decide on a design.  I like to keep them simple and restfull.  I especially like the white fabric that looks like weathered paint.  Almost bought more…

I finished the top of the scrappy log cabin quilt, and pieced the back, but I can’t baste it yet, so quilting will have to wait.

This week:  + 6 yards,  – 0 yards
This year:  + 42.5 yards,  – 56.75 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  14.25 yards

Yesterday I also received this box from Superior Threads.  This is my kind of Easter Basket!
