Sunday Stash Report: 5/26/19

I traveled several days this week, so I didn’t sew. I did purchase four fat quarters at the Ailsa Craig (Ontario, CA) Quilt & Fiber Arts Festival.

Why, yes, I did make the Maori-style basket myself!

This week: + 1 yards, – 0 yards

This year: + 46 yards, – 50.75 yards

Net destashed added in 2019: 4.75 yards

More about the Festival soon!

Stellar II

2019-05-17 13.37.01This is the Supernova pattern again.  When I made this quilt, using the tutorial from Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Jaye said she thought I should make some variations.  Here’s one; you never know if I might try more.

This floral fabric is too pretty to be called a stash dog, but it had been hanging around my stash for way too long.  Like, I have no idea how long.  Many years.  I bought this pretty ombre recently to use with it, so until I bound it, this was a two fabric quilt.

Here’s the first layout.

And the second.

2019-05-14 11.45.10-2

And I finally went to the top-to-bottom color wash layout.

2019-05-17 09.19.09

I quilted in the ditches from the center out with pink Bottom Line, and used a serpentine stitch in between in pink Sulky.  I used all light pink Bottom Line on the back and I can’t believe how well it blended with all the colors.  I guess it’s a thing that light pink does that, but I didn’t know.

I’m very happy with the way this turned out, and with my binding fabric.

Yuri’s happy, too.  We hope you have some good finishes this week.

Sunday Stash Report: 5/5/19

I spent this week completing April’s clue for the Handy Dandy Scrap quilt. My scrappy sashing did not look good with my busy background and my scrappy blocks. I changed it to this scrappy gold, which works much better. Of course, I don’t count the fabric out until the quilt is finished, but this will help the numbers when I do finish it. So many scraps!

Also this week my mother in law gave me her sewing scraps. After sorting out the blends and corduroy, I was left with about 5.5 yards, mostly red and blue (went to the Quilts of Valor bin!) and two Christmas prints.

This week: + 5.5 yards, – 0 yards

This year: + 45 yards, – 47.25 yards

Net destashed added in 2019: 2.25 yards

Keep using your stash!

April / May Goals

PicMonkey Collage April 2019I didn’t accomplish all of my goals last month, but I didn’t do too badly.

April Goals:

  1. Make blocks for Kat’s Covered in Love March/April block driveYes!  Made, mailed, and received.
  2. Make a donation baby quilt from scraps.  Yes!  It’s Stellar!
  3. Quilt and bind the log cabin quilt.  Yes!  Here.
  4. Decide on a quilting plan for the Slow QuiltNo, didn’t touch this.
  5.  Complete Clue 4 for the Handy Dandy Scap QuiltI only have half of this sewn together.

I’m also doing well on my goals of keeping current on my photos and my bookkeeping.  The Stash is moving slowly, but it is moving

I’m keeping May goals very modest.  There’s lots to be done in the yard and garden, and we’re taking two short trips.

May Goals:

  1. Finish Clue 4 for the Handy Dandy Scrap Quilt.
  2. Complete Clue 5/Reveal for the Handy Dandy Scrap Quilt.
  3. Make a baby quilt from fabric that’s been hanging around for too long.

Good luck with your goals!
