The first eight 12″ donation blocks are ready for Kat’s Covered With Love July/August block drive. I usually piece the centers, but I found odd bits of fabric that wanted to be in the middle.
I generated enough 2.5″ squares to start using as leaders and enders, so next year’s will have 16-patch centers!
Remember years ago when bloggers were taking the Process Pledge to show more than just their finished quilts?
This last quilt made quite a journey from the first concept (and possible use as a baby quilt) to the finished product. Using the design wall was essential to seeing the progress and making changes. Sometimes even more important were the (poorly lit phone) photos I took along the way.
And finally!
A finish of the Beach Wall Hanging, and no new fabric!
And next, the plan is to sew up some red, white, and blue scraps for Kat’s July/August block drive.
Whittling down that stash!
Now that the sleeve is sewn on the back, this wall hanging is complete. It’s made all from scraps and materials on hand.
I arranged the threads on the blue areas, covered the blocks with tulle, and quilted over them. As I went I added tiny beads and trapped them in the quilted swirls.
When the quilting was finished, I used the rest of the roll of tulle (from a long-ago bargain bin) to swirls across and sewed it down.
It’s hard to photograph, but there’s lots of glitter and shine.
Some favorite scraps!
Thanks for stopping!
This past two weeks I used seven and a half yards when I completed the Christmas version of the mystery, and I bought two yards of fabric.
This quilt used really old scraps and yardage, too, so it seems like a double win!
Keep sewing your stash!
This is the finished Christmas version of Scrappy 4 Patch Stars, Charlotte Hawkes’ 2021 mystery quilt. It finished at 63″ square. I was inspired to do this version after seeing one by Lorraine on the Facebook group.
I quilted it all over with Superior’s Magnifico, 40 wt., shiny poly thread.
Yuri wants to know, what are you quilting lately?
