Sunday Stash Report: 7/31/16

Busy week with just one finish, this commissioned baby quilt in a familiar pattern.  I did have to buy a yard and a quarter of the aqua chevrons for the backing, but the quilt used three and a half yards.

This week:  + 1.25 yards,  – 3.5 yards
This year: + 77.25 yards,  – 102.75 yards
Net destashed in 2016:  25.50 yards

Yep, I went to Fabric Shack this week, so the numbers will be out of whack for a while.  I had to buy it, really, because it was in my June Goals to get border and backing fabric for a WIP.

image

Now I have enough to back several!  I ordered on line, and then we went pick it up, instead of having it shipped.  Of course, that resulted in adding another yard…

image

This week I recovered the seat cushion for our outdoor settee and made a couple of pillow covers from the scraps.  That wasn’t from the stash, though, it was stiff, surly outdoor fabric with which I’m glad to be finished.

The only quilt fabric used was three quarters of a yard for the eight donation blocks for Kat.

This week:  + 21 yards,  – .75 yards
This year: + 74 yards,  – 79.75 yards
Net destashed in 2016:  5.75 yards

Keep watching as I use those backs!
Keep using your stash, even if you have to shop to do it!

Sunday Stash Report: 5/15/16

Not much sewing going on here this week, but I have worked diligently to clear up that mess behind my studio door.  Almost done.  Also, I boxed up a quilt and a top and back for donation and took them to the Post Office, so the fabric closet is looking better.

Four yards out this week for the Birds in the Air blocks, and nothing purchased.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 4 yards
This year: + 53 yards,  – 75.5 yards
Net destashed in 2016:  22.5 yards

I was itching to sew something together (not the upholstery project I should be doing!), so I dug out these impressionist fabrics.  They were part of an estate, from a couple different companies, and one is dated 1997.  Do you think they’ve seasoned long enough?  They have a large repeat, so I don’t want to cut them up too much.  I’m thinking Rail Fence.  What do you think?

Sunday Stash Report: 5/8/16

Okay, some fabric was purchased this week!  Five yards.  But here’s the story. DH and I were out shopping and dining, and found ourselves seven miles away from Fabric Shack on the evening they stay open late.

image

What would you have done?  I think it’s amazing I only bought four yards of Kona white and a yard of black Grunge.  I did look around a lot at possibilities for finishing some of my current projects, but restrained myself from buying any.

image

I’ve been using up my white on these Twilters! exchange blocks.  I made ten more this morning, for a total of twenty, so I’m half way there.  I’ll count them out when I mail them off.

So the only fabric out this week is .75 yards for the eight blocks I sent to Kat.

This week:  + 5 yards,  – .75 yards
This year: + 53 yards,  – 71.5 yards
Net destashed in 2016:  18.5 yards

Hope you’re keeping your purchases under control and really using that stash.  Happy Mother’s Day!

Sunday Stash Report and April/May Goals

IMG_2637Okay, I bought half a yard of fabric!  I needed it to bind the Coral and Aqua baby quilt.  And that finish finally starts to move my numbers again.

This week:  + .5 yards,  – 3.25 yards
This year: + 48 yards,  – 70.75 yards
Net destashed in 2016:  22.75 yards

April was a weird month, with my knee surgery and very little sewing.  I finally got back to the sewing these last two weeks, but only for an hour or two at a time.  I did watch some Craftsy classes and listened to a few podcasts, but I wasn’t really in the mood.  Mostly I read, and stayed caught up on your blogs and social media.

April Goals:

  1. Complete Clue 4 for Charlotte’s Scrappy Blocks Around the Corner.  Yes!  Here.
  2. Make blocks for Kat’s April Block Drive.  I did not.
  3. Watch my Craftsy Classes.  Yes, I watched parts of “Cut to It” (Caffrey) and “Creative Quilting with Your Walking Foot” (Gerhing).  Of course, I bought three more classes, so I’m not caught up…
  4. Catch up, more or less, on quilty podcasts.  I am no where near caught up, but I did listen to several.

(These are modest to accommodate my recovery from having my left knee partially replaced.)

Bonus:  I finished the Coral and Aqua Baby Quilt.

I’m still not enjoying sewing for long periods of time, because of the knee pain, and I know I’ll be gone at least one week in May, so I’m not counting on getting too much done.

May Goals:

  1. Make blocks for Kat’s May block drive.
  2. Make Birds in the Air blocks for the Twilters! swap.
  3. Finish cleaning behind the door in my studio.
  4. Make a baby quilt for my shop.

Sunday Stash Report: 3/20/16

image

This week I made these three spring wall hangings for my Etsy shop.  Each one took about three quarters of a yard.  And I didn’t buy any fabric!  These were quick and lots of fun to work on, and came almost all from old stash.  However, in the last few weeks I’ve used up all my light green Kona solids, so I need to replenish those…

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 2.25 yards
This year: + 47.5 yards,  – 63.25 yards
Net destashed in 2016:  15.75 yards

Hope your stash is headed the right way!  I’m linking up to the Stash Report at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report: 3/13/16

It was a pretty good week with the Stash.  I did buy three quarters of a yard of a spring panel fabric.  But I finished this little zebra quilt.  I spent one afternoon just cutting up the scraps and putting away fabric.

image

And most of the week went into assembling Clue #3 for Scrappy Stars Around the Corner, so that finish will be way down the road.

This week:  + .75 yards,  – 3.5 yards
This year: + 47.5 yards,  – 61 yards
Net destashed in 2016:  13.5 yards

Have a great week, and use that Stash!

Sunday Stash Report: 3/6/16

I bought some fabric this week, but I had some finishes, too, so it works out.

image

I used about a yard making donation blocks for Kat and Alycia.  The top and back of Bricks, Cobblestones and Pebbles came to nine and a half yards (it’s ready to go off to Quilts of Compassion, where I will let them long arm it, as I have no good ideas for quilting it).   And I made a baby quilt that I’ll show later, three and a half yards.

This week: + 8.25 yards,  – 14.00 yards
This year: + 46.75 yards,  – 57.5 yards
Net destashed  in 2016:  10.75 yards

Sunday Stash and February/March Goals

PicMonkey Collage2-28This week I sewed and didn’t buy, so that’s good news for stash reduction.  The Cool Colored twin quilt took 9.5 yards.

This week: + 0 yards,  – 9.5 yards
This year: +38.5 yards,  -43.5 yards
Net destashed added in 2016:  5 yards

February Goals

  1. Complete the second clue for Charlotte’s Scrappy Stars Around the Corner.  Yes!
  2. Continue Gyleen’s Bricks, Cobblestones, and Pebbles mystery quilt.  Yes!
  3. Unpack fabric lockers and get help moving them over a foot.  This will help with locker and floor access and make it easier to vacuum.  Well, no.  I did unload the lockers and attempt to move them, but they’re heavy and on carpet, so I gave up.  Instead, I moved a lamp in the way, and the roll of batting.  I also tidied up my cords, and changed the sewing machine so it wasn’t plugged into the same outlet as my iron (bad for the computer).  And I vacuumed and dusted.
  4. Find a new home for the little project bins that live under the cutting table.  Yes! There is clear floor space there.
  5. Make donation blocks for Kat’s February Challenge.  Yes!
  6. Make a quilt for my Etsy shop.  Yes, I made three!

Bonus:  I made a blue and green twin quilt to keep at home.

March Goals

  1. Complete the third clue for Charlotte’s Scrappy Stars Around the Corner.
  2. Make a back and donate it with the top from Gyleen’s Bricks, Cobblestones, and Pebbles mystery quilt.
  3. Clear the area behind the door in my studio.
  4. Make donation blocks for Kat’s March Drive.
  5. Make some summer-themed wall hangings.
  6. Participate in Darla’s March-A-Long, where we sew a little every day.

So February was a good month for goals, but it usually is.  As we creep toward spring, outside work and other activities call, and I sew a little less.  Luckily, Darla has her March-A-Long this month to encourage us to sew/prep for at least a few minutes every day, and that helps keep me going.  Hope you join in, too.

2016-02-27 11.02.35Good luck with your goals! I’m linking up to Judy’s report at Patchwork Times.
