This week I finished this baby quilt, and used a piece of fabric that had been in my stash for a long time. And I didn’t buy fabric this week.
This week: + 0 yards, – 3.5 yards
This year: + 45 yards, – 50.75 yards
Net destashed added in 2019: 5.75 yards
Slowly heading in the right direction.
Keep using your stash!

I'm Valerie, also known as Scooquilt. I am passionate about fabric and quilting. My quilts are colorful and modern, but grounded in traditional blocks. My degrees are in Fine Arts and Education. I'm retired from teaching and trying to quilt daily. Reading, gardening, and cats are also important to me.

Congratulations on a quilt finish! More congratulations on using up stash!
As fast as I use my stash, I seem to be replenishing it. I either need more self-discipline or to quit my job at the quilt shop.

Ha, ha! That could be the problem! I’ve reduced my stash a lot in the last few years, so I’m resigned to just using a little at this point.

Great job! I have a friend who tries to have zero gain in her stash every year. I think this must be what you are doing whereas I have a goal of using 100 yards of fabric over and above what I buy.

About 6 years ago that was my goal for a few years, and then 50, and this year I’ll be happy with 25. Most of the large pieces are gone now.
