Stellar II

2019-05-17 13.37.01This is the Supernova pattern again.  When I made this quilt, using the tutorial from Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Jaye said she thought I should make some variations.  Here’s one; you never know if I might try more.

This floral fabric is too pretty to be called a stash dog, but it had been hanging around my stash for way too long.  Like, I have no idea how long.  Many years.  I bought this pretty ombre recently to use with it, so until I bound it, this was a two fabric quilt.

Here’s the first layout.

And the second.

And I finally went to the top-to-bottom color wash layout.

I quilted in the ditches from the center out with pink Bottom Line, and used a serpentine stitch in between in pink Sulky.  I used all light pink Bottom Line on the back and I can’t believe how well it blended with all the colors.  I guess it’s a thing that light pink does that, but I didn’t know.

I’m very happy with the way this turned out, and with my binding fabric.

Yuri’s happy, too.  We hope you have some good finishes this week.

Stellar Baby Quilt Finish

2019-04-11 11.47.52Once I finally got all my ducks in a row, this baby quilt (36″ x 40″) was easy and quick to assemble and finish.

2019-04-11 11.48.20This is made from 90 4.5″ half square triangles units I had left over from a twin-sized flying geese quilt I made last year.  I didn’t know what I wanted to do with them until I saw this quilt made by Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  Then she made a tiny one, which motivated me to pull out my squares and start.  Mine is somewhere in the middle of these two.

2019-04-11 11.49.26I didn’t occur to me till I looked back at these posts and her tutorial that she paired her fabrics to create same-color diamonds.  I bet that would have been a lot easier to arrange correctly!  Oh, well, I like the color and movement in mine.

This is headed off to Jack’s Basket to welcome a new baby.
