WIP Wednesday: Pink and Gray Donation Quilt

WIP Wed

IMG_1548

This quilt was started in January, I think, inspired by Jaye’s donation blocks at Artquiltmaker.  It is on my March Getting It Done list, so I dug the blocks out this week and set them together.  The solid blocks are Kona Ash and a gray batik.

Quilting all the diagonal lines through the 2 1/2″ squares was a bit tedious, but the free motion flowers and leaves went quickly and were lots of fun.  The thread is Sulky variegated pink rayon, 943.

Now for labeling and binding!

What are you working on?

Finish it up Friday: Sultry

IMG_1536

The “Sultry” fabric quilt is finished, and it sure is girly-girl!  Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it’s a little different for me.  This quilt turned out light and bright and pink and lime, and perfect for a girl of any age, I think.  It doesn’t have an intended recipient, so it will be available in my Etsy shop.

48″ x 72″

Made almost entirely, front and back from Moda’s Basic Grey “Sultry”, with just a few stash additions, including the aquas, which I think perk it up and save it from being too sweet.  This is an old fabric line.  I said 2010 before, but now I’m thinking 2009.  I didn’t quite manage to use up my stash of it, so it may be popping up again.  Some of the prints are really pretty.

Quilted with a diagonal grid on the body of the quilt, and hearts in the border triangles.

“Getting It Done” for February, Goals for March

Urbana-20130227-00675

These lists are really focusing me.  (I’m tempted to post my housekeeping goals on here, but then you’d know…  😉  )

February Goals

1.  Make a primary or bright baby quilt for Etsy shop.

2. Pillow covers for living room pillows.

3. Floral quilt for Etsy shop.

4. Mail/deliver charity quilts and pillowcases.**  (Hopefully fininishing this 2/28/13.)

These are done, done, and done!  With any luck, #4 will also be done by the time this posts.  Realizing that the month was coming to the end reminded me to call the Project Linus lady to drop to arrange the quilt drop again (she didn’t show last time).  Really, I’m lazy, but not as lazy as I am bad at remembering to do things.  (That includes the housekeeping!)

Besides these things, I also completed the two semi-low volume baby quilts, and made the navy, brown, and orange donation quilt top.  Pretty good for a short month.

March Goals

1.  Quilt navy, brown, and orange donation quilt.

2  Finish and quilt “Sultry” quilt.

3.  Finish and quilt pink and gray donation quilt.

4.  Finish queen quilt top for my bed.

So, are you “Getting It Done”?  Baby steps, baby steps.  It’s all bettter than nothing.

Finish It Up Friday 1/4/13

Does it count if I just finished the top of the quilt?  I hope so.  One of my January goals can now be checked off.

IMG_1402This is the Quilt of Valor top I was supposed to piece on New Years Day, and it only took me four days to do.  I have excuses, but you probably don’t want to hear them.  It’s based on Judy’s design, but much simpler.  I had all the six inch squares of Alexander Henry (and other) firefighting prints, scraps from my pillowcases.  I was impatient about the small borders, and had two yards of this large scale flag print, so the border is also six inches (finished).  Simple, but bright, and I think the quilting will add interest.

I was surprised by how poorly the flag print photographed (indoors).  I guess the gold in it reflects a lot of light.  If my studio had an extra foot of space, I could have perhaps photographed it from an angle or something, but that is just not happening.  The quilt top is 62″ x 82″.

How are you coming on your goals?
