…Yuri and I are hard at work on Sports Baby Quilt #3.

Here’s the next quilt made from my sports fabric scraps. I had ten different 2.5 inch wide strips (aka jelly roll strips). I used Missouri Star’s “Cutting Corners” tutorial, and the blocks made up very fast. The solid is Kona “Dusty Blue”.

I would definitely use this block/method again. I think it would be more effective with smaller prints or solids where you could see the stripes better. I’m putting this one in the donation bag.

The Fates smiled on me as I finished this week’s baby quilt! (The black marker lines show how much I stretch the binding as I sew it on, so that I don’t have extra fullness when I sew it down on the front.)

Here’s a peek at it, but it’s way too dark and stormy here for good photos, so look for those in a day or two.
And no new fabric!

Creeping along! Have a great week!

This week I bought four yards of fabric, and I didn’t finish anything. However, I have three baby quilts in progress to use up a mess of sports print scraps. These backs, etc., will help with that. Don’t you love the chain-link fencing?

Look for some better destashing in the next few weeks!

Boy, May went quickly! But I kept my goals modest and achieved them all.
May Goals:
Wet weather and traveling have put us behind in our house and yard, so I don’t expect much quilting time this month, either.
June Goals:
I hope you enjoy whatever you’re woking on this June!

I traveled several days this week, so I didn’t sew. I did purchase four fat quarters at the Ailsa Craig (Ontario, CA) Quilt & Fiber Arts Festival.
Why, yes, I did make the Maori-style basket myself!

More about the Festival soon!

This week I finished this baby quilt, and used a piece of fabric that had been in my stash for a long time. And I didn’t buy fabric this week.

Slowly heading in the right direction.
Keep using your stash!

A two-fabric quilt.

I spent this week completing April’s clue for the Handy Dandy Scrap quilt. My scrappy sashing did not look good with my busy background and my scrappy blocks. I changed it to this scrappy gold, which works much better. Of course, I don’t count the fabric out until the quilt is finished, but this will help the numbers when I do finish it. So many scraps!
Also this week my mother in law gave me her sewing scraps. After sorting out the blends and corduroy, I was left with about 5.5 yards, mostly red and blue (went to the Quilts of Valor bin!) and two Christmas prints.

I didn’t accomplish all of my goals last month, but I didn’t do too badly.
April Goals:
I’m also doing well on my goals of keeping current on my photos and my bookkeeping. The Stash is moving slowly, but it is moving
I’m keeping May goals very modest. There’s lots to be done in the yard and garden, and we’re taking two short trips.
May Goals:
Good luck with your goals!
