Sunday Stash Report: 1/16/2022

These blocks for Charlotte Hawke’s Pinwheel Surprise mystery quilt are using a lot of stash, but I can’t count it out till it’s finished.

This week I made the Red and Gray baby quilt, which used 3.5 yards.

  • This week: + 0 yards, – 3.5 yards
  • This year: + 0 yards, – 3.5 yards
  • Net fabric destashed/added this year: 3.5 yards

Again this year I would like to turn over my stash a lot, and get rid of about 50 yards. I came close last year!

Good luck in your efforts!

Sunday Stash Report: 1/2/2022

Here’s my final report from 2021.

I quilted my turquoise version of Charlotte Hawke’s 2021 mystery quilt, Scrappy 4 Patch Stars.  (Here’s the Christmas version.)

I also sewed 8 blocks for Kat’s Covered in Love block drive. Some are better than others, but I tried.

  • This week: + 0 yards, – 8.5 yards
  • This year: +69 yards, – 115.75 yards
  • Net fabric destashed/added this year: 46.75 yards

I was hoping to use 50 yards, and this came very close.  Importantly, I added new fabrics to my Stash and used older ones, including scraps.  I’ll show all those projects in a few days.

How did you do?

Here’s hoping that 2022 is better us all and we all complete lots of projects with that Stash.

Sunday Stash Report: 12/19/2021

This week I got off on a side track making coasters from Christmas scraps. I used 1.75 yards to make 16 coasters.

  • This week: + 0 yards, – 1.75 yards
  • This year: +69 yards, – 107.25 yards
  • Net fabric destashed/added this year: 38.25 yards

Creeping up, but there’s not much left of the year. Sometimes I get in a lot of sewing between Christmas and New Year’s, so we’ll see.

Stay safe and sew your stash.

Sunday Stash Report: 10/10/21

No new fabric! (Yet!)

And this week I sewed a dozen napkins, two bowl cozies, and two pot holders for my son and daughter-in-law.

  • This week: + 0 yards, – 4 yards
  • This year: +69 yards, – 86.5 yards
  • Net fabric destashed/added this year: 17.5 yards

I’ve accepted a commission, though, for a twin quilt, so the fabric will be rolling in. Ah, well.

Take care!

Some of my donation blocks.

My sewing machine is back! That should help the fabric outflow.

All those scraps I cut made up into twenty blocks for Kat’s Covered in Love drive for September and October using 2.5 yards.

Also I discovered when I folded the Christmas fabric that I had over counted it by 2 yards. That helps!

  • This week: + -2 yards, – 2.5 yards
  • This year: +69 yards, – 82.5 yards
  • Net fabric destashed/added this year: 13.5 yards

Hope the cool weather is helping you use your stash!https://katandcatquilts.blogspot.com/2021/08/sept-oct-covered-in-love-block-drive.html

Sunday Stash Report 9/26/2021

As promised, new Christmas fabric has arrived!

Also, I never subtracted the fabric from the String Quilt. It won’t help enough.

  • This week: + 16.5 yards, – 6.5 yards
  • This year: +71 yards, – 80 yards
  • Net fabric destashed/added this year: 9 yards

Ah, well, when my machine finally returns I’m ready to sew up a storm!

No Sewing Here

My sewing machine is still at the spa, so there’s no sewing happening here.

I’m plenty busy putting the house back together after the kitchen remodel, and putting up the last of the garden produce.

I did go through my stash for fall fabrics and cut them up for Kat’s September/October block drive for Covered in Love.  I went overboard with the cutting- these will be a lot of blocks!  But it really weeded out some old scraps.

And I may have ordered some Christmas fabrics from Etsy and Fabric Shack…because we all know I don’t have much…yep.

Take it easy, and sew if you can.

String Finish

This string quilt is finished! It’s 44″ x 62″.

I quilted it with wavy lines in pale lavender poly thread. I started out to do feathers in a slightly darker variegated thread but it looked terrible, so out it came.

These colors were inspired by this backing fabric in my stash.

As you can see, it’s not only comfortable, but very flattering if you happen to be gray.

(I didn’t call Yuri out for this shoot. He heard me taking photos ??? and came running downstairs and out onto the patio to participate. Dedication!)

We both hope you have some peace, and some time to sew.
