No new fabric this week, and I used 4.25 yards to make this baby quilt.
This week: + 0 yards, – 4.25 yards
This year: + 29.5 yards, – 28.25 yards
Net destashed added in 2019: 1.25 yards
So, it’s coming along.

And there are signs of spring! Have fun sewing your stash!

I'm Valerie, also known as Scooquilt. I am passionate about fabric and quilting. My quilts are colorful and modern, but grounded in traditional blocks. My degrees are in Fine Arts and Education. I'm retired from teaching and trying to quilt daily. Reading, gardening, and cats are also important to me.

I am confused by your math above. I know I shouldn’t be, but just to clarify: you have bought 1.25 yards more than you have used at this moment? am I reading that right? Have you talked about how big your stash is? Mine is large and I don’t have to buy fabric really until the end of the time. I do enjoy buying fabric, though, so still do buy some. This year, I am trying hard to use what I have. Going through my fabric really helps as I find things that I forgot I had and get excited so it is almost like going fabric shopping.

Yes, that’s right, I’ve bought 1.25 yards more than I’ve used this year. I do have a lot of fabric, but I’ve used up 500 yards of it in the last five years or so. Now it’s kind of thin on some styles and colors, so I’m mostly trying to turn it over and reduce it a bit now. I could make plenty of quilts from what I have, but this last was a commission, so I had to buy specific fabrics for it. I expect the numbers to go back and forth a lot this year!
