I'm Valerie, also known as Scooquilt. I am passionate about fabric and quilting. My quilts are colorful and modern, but grounded in traditional blocks. My degrees are in Fine Arts and Education. I'm retired from teaching and trying to quilt daily. Reading, gardening, and cats are also important to me.

I was finally able to add The Peacock to my fabric spreadsheet. I am not yet in the black, but much less in the red. I am glad to see I am not the only one who has been keeping the fabric stores in business. 😉

PS How do you calculate fabric yardage used? I use Pam’s spreadsheet. JL

I usually estimate, but I’ve checked my estimates with Pam’s formula, and I’m very close. I start with the backing, because I know how much fabric that took in one piece (or it did on a similar sized quilt, if this one is very pieced.) I double that, to include the front, then add extra depending on how big the pieces on the front were, then finally add the binding.
