Sunday Stash Report: 9/4/15

2015-10-01 14.53.15This week I made sixteen of these cuties and made them into a baby quilt that you’ll see soon.  That used three and a half yards, and no new fabric came in.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 3.5 yards
This year:  + 93.25 yards,  – 131.0 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  37.75 yards

Today I’m putting together a dozen string blocks for Kat’s October block drive.  You know me and strings, but it’s also a good cause.  Look at what “we” made with August’s flying geese blocks!  She gave us the color scheme and we all pieced geese, and look how well they went together!  I love the way she sashed and quilted it, too.

Whether you’re stashing or destashing, I hope you’re having success.  I’m linking up to Judy’s report at Patchwork Times.

Lots of sewing this week, but the only finish is the last dozen of the Hashtag blocks for the #Twilters exchange, for two and a half yards.  If I was misleading in the last report, I’m sorry.  We are trimming them to 12.5 inches square.  (Oh, and a tiny, super secret block that used almost nothing.)

And then one and a half yards came in, some teal with white elephants that will go out again soon in a commissioned baby quilt.

This week:  + 1.5 yards,  – 2.5 yards
This year:  + 93.25 yards,  – 127.50 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  34.25 yards

Did you see that The Quilt Show is showing a 2 hour Feather Fundamentals program for free today?  I may need to watch that!

Sunday Stash Report, etc.: 9/13/15

The weather changed abruptly here this week, and today is a cool, crisp, sunny fall day.  Did I work outside?  No, I sewed most of the day, till my thread started shredding, and I decided that retreat was in order.  Live to fight another day, etc.

2015-09-12 15.55.45I spent the last few days making these storage cubes from bird seed bags, so no fabric was used there.  Anyone interested in a tutorial?

2015-09-13 13.24.03I did make these twelve hashtag blocks for a #Twilter swap coming up, so I used two and a half yards there.  These aren’t trimmed yet, but they’ll be twelve inches square.  I have more to make, but I’d had enough so I took a break.

And, no new fabric came in this week!

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 2.5 yards
This year:  + 91.75 yards,  – 125.00 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  33.25 yards

Comments:

I appreciate everyone’s comments!  Sometimes I’m bad about replying to them.  Sometimes they don’t really seem to need an answer, since they are already an answer, and someone has to hang up the phone!  Sometimes I just don’t get to them, or I’m on the wrong device and can’t see your email.  This week I answered a bunch of nice comments, and now I don’t see most of  them in my sent box, so I have no idea which ones got through.  Sigh.  Thanks for reading, anyway!

Good luck on your destashing!  I’m linking up to Judy’s report at Patchwork Times.

Got a couple of things finished this week, and no new fabric came in!  I used three and a half yards for this baby quilt (currently in the dryer, more pictures later), and about half a yard for the PEI wall quilt.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 4 yards
This year:  + 91.75 yards,  – 123.25 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  31.5 yards

So, creeping along toward my goal of 50 yards for this year.  How are you doing?

Sunday Stash Report and August/September Goals

The good news is that only one quarter yard came in this week!  And I used three and a half yards to remake the Star Wars baby quilt.  Grrr.  A post about that later.  Anyway, I’m moving that stash out a little at a time.

This week:  + .25 yards,  – 3.50 yards
This year:  + 91.75 yards,  – 119.25 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  27.75 yards

I give myself a C- on this month’s goals:

August Goals

1.  Complete coastal wall hanging.  Almost!  I have it partially quilted.

2.  Work on UFO geometric wall hanging.  No.  Haven’t even looked at it.

3.  Make a top from my new Christmas fabrics.  Looking at these tutorials:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tkm3nCferp4  and  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSKQhzZYwFw  from Missouri Star.  Yes!  The top is finished, as well as the back, and ready to be sandwiched.

4.  Source little zippers for earbud pouches.  No.  Kinda lost interest in these, though they are cute.

2015-08-26 11.22.23

I think I could have finished this list, think I would have, except for the commissioned baby quilt.  Still think I would have, except for having to remake the baby quilt.  And somewhere in there I took a break to make six scrappy blocks for Kat’s August block drive (mine have that blushing batik in them) .  Here is what she’s doing for September.

September Goals

  1.  Finish coastal wall hanging.
  2. Quilt and bind Christmas quilt.
  3. Make a baby quilt from some floral scraps I’ve pulled together, probably D4P.
  4. Work on UFO wall hanging

How are you doing on your sewing goals?  A busy, busy time, but things should start to settle down this month.  Good luck and enjoy!

I’ve been sewing up a storm, but the only thing I’ve finished are these six blocks to donate to Kat and Cat Quilts for her block drive.  I love the colors she chose.  About a yard, all acraps.  Some fabric has been acquired, but most will go out on a commision I’m making.

This week:  + 3.5 yards,  – 1 yards
This year:  + 85 yards,  – 112.25 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  27.25 yards

Good luck on your destashing!

Sunday Stash Report: 7/5/15

With the finish of Blue and Gold Scrap Trellis I am back to making progress on my goal of destashing fifty yards of fabric this year. (We’re now in the second half of the year…). This quilt was great, since it came almost all from old stash and scraps, and made good use of that lovely piece of fabric for backing.

This week:  + 0 yards,  – 7.5 yards
This year:  + 77.5 yards,  – 98.25 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  20.75 yards

No sewing yesterday due to partying, so I’ll show some photos of my back yard and vegetable garden.

Yes, everything is really this green, we’ve had a ton of rain.  It will look a little less vibrant in August.

Have a great day, and good luck destashing!  I’m linking up to Judy’s report at Patchwork Times.

No finishes in the last two weeks because I spent a week traveling, including to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival.  Yes, I bought thirteen yards of fabric, but can anyone blame me?  I was in Fabric Mecca, otherwise know as Hamilton, MO, home of the Missouri Star Quilt Company.

I bought some neutral Grunges and crossweaves, two florals for borders, and this very neat layer cake I had never before seen.

This week:  + 13 yards,  – 0 yards
This year:  + 77.5 yards,  – 90.75 yards
Net fabric destashed  in 2015:  13.25

If you don’t know the story of MSQC, be sure to read it.  Quilters have truly brought this tiny town back to life, and restoration of the beautiful old buildings is continuing.  They have have plans to open more fabric stores, and I’m sure more businesses will join the restaurants and gallery already there.  Go visit!
