I'm Valerie, also known as Scooquilt. I am passionate about fabric and quilting. My quilts are colorful and modern, but grounded in traditional blocks. My degrees are in Fine Arts and Education. I'm retired from teaching and trying to quilt daily. Reading, gardening, and cats are also important to me.

One of the things I have found with medallions is that I have to add each border as a real border – that whole process of measuring 3 times across the quilt and sewing to that size. It is a hassle, but prevents the waviness.

Well, of course this is a mystery quilt, so I just do what I’m told. The real problem was EQ rounding off to the nearest quarter inch. The borders were 1/8″ too narrow, so a quarter inch on each side of this section, so half an inch across the whole thing.

I just finished this step. Thanks, Valerie, for your help in the Facebook group. I used your adjustments and it went together perfectly.
